Q: Why become a sponsor? 

A: Sponsoring a child gives you a chance to share a unique relationship with a child in another part of the world. As a sponsor, your regular contributions provide important benefits to a child living in poverty and enable them to go to school. Although you are under no obligation, we hope that your commitment will be a long-term engagement with the child you have chosen. Many sponsors have developed a very close relationship with their sponsored child. 

In our gallery we have profiles of children that are in need of sponsorship. Once you have chosen the child you wish to support, send us an email and we will send you a sponsorship application form. Once this has been completed and returned to us we will confirm the sponsorship as soon as possible.

Within 10 days, you will receive an email that will include photos of your sponsored child, information about his/her family and other relevant information about the child benefiting from the sponsorship. Within a couple of months you will receive a letter from your sponsored child introducing him/herself and his/her family; Twice a year you will receive a detailed report card showing your sponsored child’s academic/extra curricular progress in school. 

Q: How is my sponsored child going to benefit from my contribution? 

A: The objective of our sponsorship program is the education of orphans and other needy children. Your sponsorship fee will cover the school fees, school materials, uniform and other basic necessities. 

Q: How can I get in contact with my sponsored child? 

A: You can send cards and letters to your sponsored child to the Project’s address found on our contact page. We will arrange that your sponsored child receives the letters and also arrange for translation. Since the Ugandan postal service is sometimes not very reliable, we would advise you to contact us if you haven’t heard from us within 3 months of you sending your letter. 

Also, please allow between one to two months for a reply from your sponsored child. In some cases the sponsored child is not old enough to write him/herself so he/she needs assistance.

Q: Can I send packages/gifts to my sponsored child?

A: Yes, you can send packages to your sponsored child. If you need any specific information as for example the children’s size, you always can contact us. Packages can be sent to the address provided under contact. Please make sure to write “donation” on your package to avoid the payment of taxes and fees. Please also note, that unfortunately we are unable to incur any of the delivery costs.

Q: Can I visit my sponsored child? 

A: Of course you can visit your sponsored child/family. It can be a very rewarding experience, for you and the sponsored child/family, to meet face-to-face. If you ever desire to do so, let us know and we will arrange your visit and give you general information on how you can visit us.

Q: Can I send money directly to my sponsored child? 

A: If you wish to send extra money or a gift to your sponsored child or family, we would advise you to send it through us as we will make sure they receive your gift. After your sponsored child/family has received the gift, we will take a picture of the child/family with your gift so you can see yourself how happy your gift has made her/him. 

Q: How can I pay my contribution for the sponsorship? 

A: Once you have applied to become a sponsor we shall send you the necessary information about how you can pay for sponsorship. We will also ask you on the application whether you would like to pay annually or monthly.

Q: When will my sponsorship end? 

A: Continuity is crucial for a successful school career and will avoid school drop out because of the lack of funding. Therefore we require that you commit to funding the remainder of the child’s education for the educational level they are currently at ie. until the end of primary or secondary school. So if a student is currently in Senior 3, you agree to sponsor them for the next 3 years until they have completed Senior 6.

If for any reason you can no longer afford to sponsor a child you must give us 2 months notice. Reimbursement of already paid fees is not possible.Your sponsorship will end when the child leaves school or no longer needs assistance. In either event we shall inform you and it is then your decision whether you would like to sponsor another child.

Q: What you can expect as a sponsor?

As a sponsor, we encourage you:

• To build a good relationship with your child by communicating through letters.

• To commit to a long term sponsorship of your child.

• To let us know if you have difficulties making financial commitment to your sponsored child.

• To please notify us if you change your contact details.
